Our neighbors are pretty sweet. This was last night's group activity... of course Tim had to capture us in all of our spandexed glory. Bike outfits are just really dorky, period. The gear just gives me the giggles, so I kept saying, "Isn't this funny?" making myself even more of a dork. This is Megan, me and Kristie about to take on Bingham Hill.
The ride actually felt great despite it being the first time I had gone further a few blocks on a bike in several years. I think I'm ready for more. And Tim has been riding too, so maybe one of these days we'll go together! Pretty soon, we'll be the classic Fort Collins family with a baby and a labrador in our bike trailer, riding off into the sunset to get a microbrew. :)

Mother's Day
Today was special and I feel incredibly blessed with my family. Tim treated me and his mom like queens today (Teri is here!) complete with massages (mine from my new favorite yoga teacher Andrea), new hats for all the ladies and a breakfast straight out of Tartine. Amazing goodness. And I got to talk to my mom and grandma and spend time with my sweet sister and I am so grateful for all the ways these wonderful women have impacted me as a mother. Happy Mother's Day!

And now...
The last couple of weeks have brought about some fun stuff...
The best sound ever... I tried to get this tickle fest on video, but my phone fell on the ground...
Crawling still seems to hurt her knees on the hardwoods, so she likes this hallway rug...
- Zoe is crawling, so now we finally have to get around to child-proofing our house
- I replanted the garden and things are GROWING this time! :)
- It seems like summer is here already so I packed away our winter stuff and I'm loving the weather
- We made friends with the neighbors (who are from SF!) and I have a new running buddy!
- We sort of, maybe, perhaps, kinda got the ball rolling on buying a house (don't hold your breath! Do you know my husband? Do you know the meaning of "Tim Time"?) In all seriousness, Tim's conservative approach is the perfect balance to my impulsiveness, so I think this is a good thing. I am the type of person who looks at almost any house and sees a lot of "potential". ;) I've watched a few too many episodes of House Hunters.

Babble
Zoe's been talking more and more, which is really fun. But I've noticed something interesting... as her language skills develop, mine seem to be worsening. My friend Kristine who is a Speech Therapist who works with kids told me when you're teaching your baby new words you should keep your language brief, 1 or 2 words. So instead of saying, "Zoe, look here is the ball!", just say "ball" and point or give it to her. So I've been trying this and have noticed after a full day with Zoe, I might skip a few words when talking to Tim... like instead of saying, "Honey, could you please go get our baby girl out of her crib and change her diaper while I cook dinner?" ... I might say, "Go get girl"... yikes.
It also reminds me of when Tim was in Switzerland and living and talking with so many people who didn't speak very much English, his language skills suffered. He would leave out the adverbs or adjectives and sounded as if English was maybe his second language too. Luckily, it seems like it's more like picking up a temporary accent than actually losing your vocabulary. Anyway, here is Zoe saying a few words, it's fun to get them on video.
